These investments are normally made at a substantial discount to the market price of a public company’s traded common shares and often involve stock purchase warrants equal to 50% or more of the number of shares purchased in the private placement. While PIPEs are not appropriate for all investors, those investors willing to allocate a portion of their portfolio into these more aggressive investments can sometimes enjoy spectacular returns.
